HIGHLIGHTS: Little/never used route over Plateau Glacier

MEETING:     1000 Breheimsenter, Jostedal. We wait for the Glacier Bus

YOU SHOULD BRING: Warm clothing (incl. rain jacket hat & gloves),                    good walking shoes, food & drink for at least 2 meals,                   camera. Good sleeping bag (3 season min.),decent sized                   pack to carry the above also required.
WE PROVIDE:Tents and evening meal, kayaking and glacier equipment.

TOUR DESCRIPTION: Kayaking over Styggevatnet to the calving glacier front, we stop for lunch and get the glacier hiking equipment ready to start walking across Austdalsbreen (Glacier) to Rundeggi (Mountain). We set camp on a snowfield on the side of the mountian before walking up to the summit for dinner and a sunset view to match any.
The second day we make tracks over the glacier plateau, the largest on mainland Europe. Weaving our way around partially snow covered crevasses at the head of a West Coast Glacier, we eventually come to the exposed ice and the terminal of the glacier. A steep walk down to a støl (mountain farm huts) where we spend the evening completes the second day, before walking out to the road the following day.
