The River Pig ('Elvepurka' in Jostedal Norwegian) is a mythical creature that lives in the wild glacier river which runs through the spectacular Jostedalen Valley. The idea of this old female pig has been used by the parents in the valley to scare the children away from the dangers of the river for hundreds of years.
But now, we have a chance to visit the Elvepurka, in her territory! Do you have the heart to raft the white water, to brave the glacial chill, to come face to face with ELVEPURKA?

On the river we offer 2 rafting trips and can also take shorter trips river-boarding.
The Elvepurka Trip, of 3 hours duration takes in series of class 3-4 white water and fantastic gorge and mountain scenery from deep inside the Jostedalen Valley.
The longer 'Big Boss Hog' Trip includes lunch, a shower under a 200m high waterfall, and a fantastic run through class 4 rapids. Rafting from The Jostedal Camping ground to Gaupne you can see almost the whole Jostedalen Valley from the water.

We try to include families as best we can. Please ask for a trip to suit you!
