Icetroll offer tours on 2 very different lakes, Tunsbergdalsvatnet and Styggevatent. On each lake we have a day trip and an overnight tour. In addition, Icetroll offer privately guided tours for individuals or groups, and corporate tours for companies interested in incentive or team building.
Tunsbergdalsvatnet (485m above sea level) is used from the start of the season, where we offer a day tour and the overnight tour. This lake sits below mountains over 1000m above us, and the end of this lake is only 2 km from Norways longest glacier, Tunsbergdalsbreen. Tours over this lake include kayaking, hiking and glacier walking on each trip.
Styggevatnet (1200m above sea level) is not available for kayaking until the surface of the lake is free of ice and snow from winter, this season (2006) was 10th July. Over this lake we offer a day tour and the two-day tour including kayaking and glacier hiking. Styggevatnet is up amongst the plateau mountains of the Jostedalsbreen icecap and, as opposed to Tunsbergdalsbreen, we are nearly at the height of the surrounding mountain peaks, and as such enjoy a barren plateau landscape for these tours. The glacier we kayak to here, Austdalsbreen, is actually in the lake, and calves towers of ice into the water, providing the icebergs for us to kayak around on our way to the glacier.
Nigardsbrevatnet is a smaller lake we can offer pre-organised tours on. This lake is close to the Breheimsenter and is much smaller than both Styggevatnet and Tunsbergdalsvatnet. Tours are two hours in duration, including a short hike to the Nigardsbreen glacier with the guide, time enough for some information about the glaciers and photos of a fantastic glacier front!
