What to Expect

BOSS HOG GLACIER RAFTING HAS TWICE THE WHITE WATER!

By choosing the BOSS HOG section you will be enjoying 2x as much white-water as the ELVEPURKA tour. We price the trips hoping to encourage you onto this tour, as the guides love it more than anyone. It is not always possible through the whole summer season, due to river levels, but if it is available, it is a must!

By the time we begin the BOSS HOG whitewater section of the river, you have already completed the LITTLE PIGGIES and ELVEPURKA sections, so all that is left is the best/biggest class 4 white-water.

We take the rafts out of the water after the ELVEPURKA section and drive further down the river to the village of Myklemyr. Back in the river with the rafts, a scenic ravine leads us into the BOSS HOG white water. More technical waves and drops for you to paddle through before the last, most powerful, wave – the RiverPig bites hardest here! Something to look forward to??

After the waves are behind us, we can have a final jump off a boulder in the middle of the river, followed by a hot chocolate to calm “the shakes”. It is then back to our base in Jostedal for a shower and a good laugh at the photos/videos.

There is a four-person minimum for this tour. If you are less than 4 people, we can include you on trips with others, of course. Please call us to book this class 4 whitewater tour

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No previous rafting experience is required, and you do not need to be able to swim.

You will wear a flotation device (life jacket), and your guide will provide clear instructions before and during the trip. As long as you follow those instructions, you can expect a safe and enjoyable experience.

  • We provide all technical equipment: wetsuit, wetsuit jacket, neoprene booties, life jacket and helmet.

On colder days, it is a good idea to bring wool layers (wool top, trousers and socks) to wear under the wetsuit. Please avoid cotton clothing, as it does not keep you warm when wet. Swimwear or underwear under the wetsuit is perfect.

If you wear glasses, that is no problem. We sell RiverPig glasses straps before the tour if you would like extra security. Please note that wearing glasses is at your own risk.

  • Rafting is actually one of the best activities in bad weather. You will be wearing a wetsuit, so getting wet is part of the experience. Rain rarely affects the quality of the trip — sometimes it even adds to the atmosphere.

If conditions are unsafe due to extreme river levels, we will reschedule, offer alternatives, or provide a full refund if you prefer.

  • Rafting is an adventure activity on moving water, and inherent risks exist. We minimise these risks through careful planning, professional judgement and experienced guides.

All trips are led by highly trained guides with extensive experience on this river. Before departure, you will receive a full safety briefing and must follow all guide instructions at all times. You will also sign a declaration confirming that you will follow the guide’s instructions and accept the risks explained during the safety briefing.

Our primary goals are your safety and, through that, your enjoyment.
